THEATRE IS THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING

About Us

Who is Tropical Arts?
We are a not-for profit community theatre group based in Cairns, Australia. We specialize in community theatre.  Our members range in age from 4 years old to 80 years old.
Tropical Arts aims to find pathways into theatre for everyone whether they are professional actors, experienced amateurs, students, first timers to the stage, visual artists, musicians, or keen community members who want to help backstage.
Since we started in Cairns in 2008 we have had over 6000 people come to our performances.
Each year our major event is a large-cast, site-specific Shakespeare production with a tropical interpretation. TANKS ARTS CENTRE is our major partner for this event; providing the venue and technical support.
Our other valued partners are ARC DISABILITY SERVICES and SONG CONNECTION, who support our production and bring new people to the ensembles of Tropical Arts.

At the Tanks Art Centre in Cairns where we have performed “The Tempest” and
“The Merchant of Venice”, “Measure for Measure”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in our annual ‘Shakespeare at the Tanks’ season.
Shakespeare at the Tanks 2013 will be “ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL”.  Throughout 2013 we are running workshops for the community.  You are welcome to get involved!
